‘One-Punch Manga’ Manga Getting Bundled Anime Episode With the ninth volume of the One-Punch Man manga released last month with a drama CD bundle, the first bundled bonus of its run, things are looking up for the tenth installment in an entirely expected way. With the new anime season set to begin next month that’s being simulcast by Viz Media and Daisuki, it’s now been revealed that the tenth installment will have an OVA bundled with it. Presumably it’ll be done by the same team as the TV series. No details about what story it will adapt or of it’ll be something original. There are a few side chapters that aren’t expected to be in the TV series so we’re figuring it’ll be that.

Casting so far has included Makoto Furukawa on board to play Saitama, Kaito Ishikawa will be playing Genos, Yuuki Kaji as Speed of Sound Sonic and Aoi Yuki as Tornado of Terror. Supporting cast includes Yūichi Nakamura as License-less Rider, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Silver Fang, Hiroki Yasumoto as King, Takahiro Sakurai as Zombieman, Katsuyuki Konishi as Tanktop Master, Saori Hayami as Blizzard of Hell, Mamori Miyano as Sweet Mask, Kenjiro Tsuda as Atomic Samurai, Minami Takayama as Child Emperor, Tesshô Genda as Metal Knight, Youji Ueda as Drive Knight, Daisuke Namikawa as Pig God, Satoshi Hino as Superalloy Blackluster, Yuji Ueda as Watchdog Man, Kousuke Toriumi as Flashy Flash, Wataru Hatano as Metal Bat and Masaya Onosaka as Puri-puri Prisoner.

The anime adaptation is being produced by Madhouse for the animation with Shingo Natsume set to direct based on the overall scripts by Tomohiro Suzuki. Chikashi Kubota is on board to handle the character designs for it. The series is set to debut in October of this year.

The manga comes from ONE and Yusuke Murata, which began in 2012 in Tonari no Young Jump online after it was originally started back in 2009 by Murata online. The manga has nine volumes released so far, making it easy to imagine this will be a single season series when it lands.

Viz Media is releasing the manga in North America in both print and digital form.

Plot concept: In this new action-comedy, everything about a young man named Saitama screams “AVERAGE,” from his lifeless expression, to his bald head, to his unimpressive physique. However, this average-looking fellow doesn’t have your average problem… He’s actually a superhero that’s looking for tough opponents! The problem is, every time he finds a promising candidate he beats the snot out of them in one punch. Can Saitama finally find an evil villain strong enough to challenge him? Follow Saitama through his hilarious romps as he searches for new bad guys to challenge!

‘Pacific Rim’ Gets Date Warner Bros. is setting another date today as it’s getting things in place for the big budget action/disaster film from Guillermo del Toro with Pacific Rim now set for July 12th, 2013. The feature has very little set about it at this point that’s publicly known, and it’s interesting that this is intended to be a big summer film and one that will push other movies around as it’s the first one to lay claim to that particular date. The feature originally started getting attention earlier this year but there were concerns about how to approach it after the disaster in Japan with the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear plant issues, but with it being a few years off and a bit of creative writing, it should be a relative non issue and could even be tied into it in an appropriate way. At this stage, no full concept is available for it other than it involving giant monsters, the pacific and mayhem galore, and that it will star Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba as the pilots of giant robots fighting off aliens.

Is it July 12th, 2013 yet?

This installment of the series is set to be released on July 12th directly from them, and an unspecified date through other retailers that are carrying it. The second volume was released back in September of 2010 through normal retail channels like Right Stuf.
