For Carlos and Cátia, family was the most important aspect of their bohemian styled wedding in Portugal. The couple chose the bride’s grandmother’s house for the big day because of the sentimental value and the “feeling of belonging there.“ Home-cooked meals, colorful, rustic decor, and live music produced the perfect ambiance for the couple to exchange vows. Instead of carrying a traditional bouquet, the bride wore a floral necklace, which was a beautiful, unique touch to her gorgeous laced gown. The amazing Pedro Vilela Photography captured the sweet, genuine moments spent at this intimate Portuguese wedding.

The Inspiration:

We chose to have a wedding at my grandmother’s house because that is where I spent my childhood. I love that place and the feeling of belonging there. The decoration was all about that, all the small details belong to our childhood: photos, music, flowers, etc. It was a mix of what we loved most and some rustic props from my grandmother’s house. For example, Carlos used a traditional cap from our region — Ribatejo. I didn’t want to carry the bouquet, so I used a flower necklace. It was a perfect idea.

The Moments:

It’s impossible to identify just one moment. All day was filled with happiness and joy. Having everybody together and being able to share our love was memorable.

The Couple Recommends:

Most of the things in the wedding were homemade by family and friends. Thanks to them it was a beautiful party!

Crista and Robert said “I do” at Onteora Mountain House surrounded by friends and family, as well as the vast beauty of the Hudson Valley. The celebration was filled with family heirlooms, vintage pieces, and rustic elements complemented by shades of peach and ivory. Stellar photography team Tatiana Breslow and Ryan Brenizer masterfully captured all of the special, sentimental moments that made Crista and Robert’s wedding so unique, including the most stunning array of stars above their wedding venue after the newlyweds shared their first dance.

The Inspiration:

Trusting the creative people around us and enjoying the venue. Honestly, our biggest concern was making sure the dance floor was packed. We wanted to keep in simple. We splurged on a few things, but in general coral is the bride’s favorite color and we both like things that feel homey so we went with natural woods and burlap.

The Moments:

According to Robert, “all of the moments after I saw her in her dress.”

The Couple Recommends:

Our photographers were absolutely amazing. The best part about going through the pictures is seeing the moments that we missed because we were doing other things, they have the ability to truly capture moments. So when we look at them we are brought right back to that day.

Our videographers are actually friends of ours who literally made magic with the movie they made for us.

Our invitation designer was also amazing. Colin really took the time to craft something that reflected who we are as people. The invitations were perfect and set the tone for when our guests arrived. That and we now have an awesome family monogram!

Alice and Jake’s bright and colorful wedding was held on their private ranch in Santa Paula, California – the groom’s childhood home and their home together. Designed by XOXO BRIDE ‘s Saralee Franchi, the wedding captured all the nostalgia of its countryside setting and was truly the wedding of Alice and Jake’s dreams.

The Goals: We wanted a summer wedding, so we planned our wedding in 4 months which meant that making decisions quickly and keeping it simple were priorities. We also wanted our guests to experience the beauty of the property that we live on which is also where my husband grew up.

The Design: It was important to us to have a casual, nature-inspired wedding that was also beautifully designed.

The Look: I loved wearing the same vintage hairpieces that my grandmother, and my mother, wore at their weddings. The hairpieces are made of wax orange blossoms. I also loved wearing a lace wedding dress because it felt like it fit the setting.

The Moments: The ceremony was my favorite part. Hearing Jake’s vows and the words that his sister had prepared for us (she was the officiant) just filled me with happiness. I’m glad we didn’t share our vows in advance, so it was the first time I was hearing them.

The Advice: Make decisions based on whether it fits you both as a couple and shows your guests what you love about each other. It’s all about the love!
