Photography is all about capturing love. While most parents cannot stop taking photos of their precious babies, they often forget to get themselves involved by capturing the true love that flows in the family through natural interaction. Baby portraits can certainly tell your children how cute they looked when they were born, but family portraits will tell them how much they are loved. Those moments of love are the most precious memories you want to keep forever. Join us as we share some of our favorite love-filled newborn family photos below, we hope you find them as magical as we did!

Thoughts from the photographer
Melissa Avey: This session was done this summer for a young family here in Cambridge. We both really wanted to do something outdoors so we headed out to a local park and enjoyed the beautiful day, had some fun and took these images! They were lovely to work with and the kids were absolutely precious.
Melissa Avey: The baby girls were so sweet. The little one was literally full of smiles the whole time. Big sister was a bit shy at first but she warmed up to me. I love their beautiful curls and I love how they interacted with each other. I love doing sessions where the family can just let loose and play. I never stress about trying to pose 2 year olds. Let them do their thing and capture the magic when you see it.

The only thing better than a newborn baby is two newborn babies. It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to Kayden & Alva! After three years of trying, the parents were thrilled to find out about the good news on Valentine’s Day (which also happens to be their wedding anniversary). Imagine their joy and surprise when they realized that they were expecting TWO! It’s a big challenge to photograph baby twins, but Eden Bao Photography did an amazing job. This soft, natural newborn session is simply perfect and super sweet. Join us as we share this family’s double blessing below.
Family Story
From the mom: The day we found out about the pregnancy by the lab blood work was February 14, The Valentine’s Day, also our five years Anniversary.
We were so happy to welcome our first baby after three years of trying. At my first ultrasound, the sonographer said to me, “what do you think of two?”, I got so confused. Few seconds later, I realized I was carrying twins. No words could really describe our feelings at that moment.
Pregnancy Experience
From the mom: I heard lots of scary stories about twin pregnancy and that multiples can bring more risks. Well, 10 months actually went by so quickly that all I could remember were how tight my clothes became as days passed by. In total, I gained almost 60 pounds, and my feet were so swollen that i could only wear slippers.
The last month of the pregnancy was very difficult. Eating, moving, and even sleeping became harder, and the fear of the delivery were getting so real.
Now that I recall, the delivery was not that bad. Until today, me and my husband still cannot believe these two cute little ones are ours. Although taking care of two babies requires double the time and cost, we will never regret. We truly believe that compare with others, what we enjoy in life will be doubled too.
Thoughts from the photographer
Eden Bao: Shooting twins together is challenging! Not only are there two babies to sooth, calm and pose, but one has to consider poses and angles so that both twins’ faces are in focus.
Because a singleton can take up to four hours to shoot in a newborn session, twins can easily take longer than that. To ensure that the session went smoothly, I enlisted the assistance of a fellow newborn photographer.
It was such a pleasure to shoot my first twins and I thank the parents for having confidence in me to capture their twins babies beautifully for them to cherish forever.
About Eden Bao Photography
Born from Eden Bao’s love of her family and her desire to beautifully capture the little world, Eden Bao Photography provides premier maternity, newborn, and baby portraits to Vancouver, BC lower mainland and the Fraser Valley region.
Eden Bao: As a mother of two, I know all too well how fleeting these moments are—the beauty of pregnancy, the awe of a new baby, the excitement of their first milestone…those priceless moments fly by so quickly. As you start your adventure with your baby, your love for them will grow while early memories of them will fade. Your baby will only be new and tiny once in their lifetime. You have one chance to capture that moment before it passes you by.
I would be honoured to capture these precious memories of your baby’s life from within the womb to their first birthday, so that you and your family can cherish them forever.

Italian photographer Vanessa Illi captured beautiful expecting mama Alice in this romantic maternity session. Every image from this shoot is breathtaking and can stand alone as its own work of art, including tender quiet moments and some stylish outdoor shots. Join us as we share this lovely session below.
When mommy met daddy
From the Mom-to-be (Alice): We met in February 2013 at a shooting: I was the model and he was the photographer. It was a snowy day and while I was freezing posing outside, his camera died! He admitted that he was so nervous that morning that he had forgotten the batteries at home.
Overall the shoot went well and after that we worked together a couple of times again, until one day we started chatting about how relationships nowadays are so hard, and we decided to go out for lunch to chat more, and it all started from there.
A beautiful surprise
Alice: The pregnancy was a big surprise for me, because I didn’t know I was expecting a baby until I was 5 months pregnant! I didn’t notice the belly bump until then. We were very happy about this surprise and discovered she’s a girl! We have already decided to call her Ginevra.
Thoughts from the mom-to-be
Alice: I dreamed a lot about having a special shooting with my baby Ginevra. I imagined shades of pink, big windows, and a romantic atmosphere. I feel so grateful that this special team of artists made my dream come true!
Vanessa is a great photographer, hard worker, and a scrupulous person, but she made it look easy. Roxy did a great job with styling including make-up and hair, she is a complete artist. The location provided by Santomaro was magnificent, with his pool surrounded by nature and the house filled by light. I really love all the photos!
Thoughts from the photographer
Vanessa Illi: I’ve had beautiful experiences during my two pregnancy periods, so I really wanted to show how wonderful a pregnant woman could be through this photo session with Alice. The physical and inner beauty of a mother-to-be are just so precious.

Known as “The City of Love”, who could ask for a better honeymoon destination than Paris? Even more spectacular than its iconic sights is the city’s rich culture and incredibly romantic atmosphere. When Patrick susprised Courtney with a honeymoon photoshoot in Paris, her heart was filled with excitement and joy. The sweet newlyweds (who both happened to be photographers) made a brilliant decision of hiring the talented husband and wife team Emm and Clau to capture their precious moments. Join us we share their beyond-perfection Parisian honeymoon shoot below.
Wedding Memories
From the Bride (Courtney): We got married on June 15, 2013 in Tuscany with forty of our closest friends and family. It was the most magical, memorable and beautiful experience we could have dreamed of.
The 14th century villa, Villa Vignamaggio, where we had the ceremony and reception was the perfect setting for an intimate, romantic affair with a quartet tugging at our heartstrings and chandeliers hanging from the trees. Tears of emotion were unstoppable, and we just couldn’t feel more in love with each other.
A sweet surprise
Courtney: When we did our “first look”, we exchanged gifts. I gave Patrick a new camera with a vintage brown leather case, and he gave me the sweetest of notes which ended with “PS: I booked us a honeymoon photoshoot in Paris!”. More tears flowed and my heart did leaps of excitement. Seriously, he is the best. After traveling to the Amalfi Coast and Barcelona after the wedding, we headed to Paris for the last week of our honeymoon.
Why Paris?
Courtney: Since my first trip to Paris when I was seventeen, I’ve always harbored a special affection for the City of Lights. When Patrick and I started dating, I dreamed of taking him there. Paris not only has an incredible energy, but it’s mix of fashion, architecture and history create a stunning backdrop for photos. Since we are both photographers, I knew he would love it. When we decided to spend a week of our honeymoon in Paris, I couldn’t have been more thrilled!
Thoughts from the bride
Courtney: When we met Emm and Clau the day of our shoot, we immediately fell in love with the husband and wife team. They were so sweet, relaxed and super adorable! They took us to the most amazing locations around the city to shoot, and were great at giving us direction and were always upbeat and fun. Walking with them around Paris felt like we were simply exploring the streets with old friends.
When we received the images from Emm and Clau, we were both overwhelmed with excitement and joy. They were completely perfect. We love that they incorporated Patrick’s wedding gift into the shoot and really captured us as “us”, taking pictures of each other, smooching whenever possible and hanging out hand in hand.
I think we’re both still reeling with pure happiness from that day in Paris. I hope some day we’ll go back and do it all over again. Until then.. I’ll keep looking at these photos over and over! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts Emm and Clau. xoxo.
