While most of the reporting out there is on how Scarlett Johansson stepped out publicly with Sean Penn this weekend at the White House Correspondents Dinner, a certain segment of the reporting is zeroing in on her looks as she’s about to start filming for The Avengers as she reprises her role as the Black Widow. There’s some obvious differences in how she looks here to how she did back in Iron Man 2, but that’s what hair extensions are for, though it does look as though she’ll be sporting a bit of a lighter red look this time around. Which do you prefer?

Character concept: Natalia “Natasha” Alianovna Romanova is the first character to take on the Black Widow codename in the modern mainstream Marvel Comics. She was created by editor and plotter Stan Lee, scripter Don Rico and artist Don Heck, and first appeared in Tales of Suspense #52 (April 1964). The character has been associated with several superhero teams in the Marvel Universe, including The Avengers, The Defenders, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the Thunderbolts. She has appeared in many other forms of media, including the major motion picture Iron Man 2, where she was portrayed by actress Scarlett Johansson.
