Thousands of superheroes, space travelers, elves, fairies, trolls, and the occasional Norse god packed into the Washington State Convention Center this weekend starlordfor the sold-out Emerald City Comicon.

Cosplay is the art of dressing up as one of your favorite fictional characters. It can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it. But some cosplayers go above and beyond! Every Tuesday, we feature one of these dedicated hobbyists, along with some information about their chosen cosplay.

It’s hard to say whether big name celeb appearances like Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson, The Avengers, Agents of Shield) and Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell, Game of Thrones) or Seattle’s rapidly growing geek cohort are responsible for the crowds. But whatever the cause, the increased demand for ECCC tickets led ReedPop, which recently acquired the convention, to expand to the event to four days next year.
The creativity and imagination you all put into your Fanfest costumes has always impressed us, so this year we decided to try out a cosplay contest and it was amazing to see how many of you put so much effort in to your incredible outfits.

Each day we awarded three prizes, including a mix of in-game outfits, PLEX, Razer swag and EVE Collector’s Editions.
Costumes ranged from hyper-realistic (we saw a Starlord that looked remarkably like Washington’s own Chris Pratt) to playful and fun (check out Bender, the gender bending robot).

Cosplay is really a new fashion which descends from Japan, an Hard anodized cookware country. When it first arrived to people’s life, few individuals are interested in cosplay. Then using the spread of cartoons and manga, increasing numbers of people get interested within cosplay. Born from big gatherings and events filled with fanatical anime enthusiasts, cosplay has become a global hobby with a large number of followers. As anime is continuing to grow in popularity previously two decades so has got the hobby of cosplay. Cosplay hails from the English phrases “costume” and “play” and it is used to explain the hobby associated with crafting highly comprehensive and accurate outfits of beloved cartoons and manga figures.

In the modern times, largely from 1998 and beyond the quantity of public acceptance associated with cosplay has elevated. Today cosplay is really a popular scene in public places settings such because parties, nightclubs and gaming shows. In some areas of Japan like the Akihabara district you will find even cosplay coffee shops, bookstores.

Many anime occasions hold contests in which the accuracy and focus on detail on the cosplay costume are judged depending on their true depiction from the character they had been designed after. This is perhaps probably the most important aspects associated with cosplay. The focus on detail and accuracy of the cosplay costume may be the defining element from it. In this method, a players locks and skin are considered the main costume itself and really should resemble that from the character they tend to be depicting.

The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland is a popular cosplay choice. She’s a strong, feminine villain full of color and personality. Sure, we’ll get around to her more classic appearance soon, but today is for the risk takers! Cosplay can be high fashion. It can be elegant, unique, and above all else, beautiful. Wonderland has never been so pretty!

There is nothing about this picture I’m not crazy about. Ruby Randall has put together a work of art! Look at the roses in her hair, the heart shaped lips, and that sparkly heart necklace. The leather heart mask is by Tom Banwell and I can’t stop staring at it. His Facebook page is packed full of everything from plague masks, to animals, to delicate beauties like this. Gorgeous!

Off with their heads! Ulorinvex brings a dark and gothic vibe to everyone’s favorite Red Queen. This shot was from the cover shoot for Bizarre Magazine . (Note to self, check that out!) I like that the only bows are on her shoes and in her hair. It cuts the cute that would have ruined this look. Check out the coordinating striped hair, the heart detailing, and those red fishnets! Lilly Blue Diamond makes one heck of a dark and menacing Queen of Hearts. She just radiates arrogance with that strong stance! I love the harsh slash of scarlet from her ribbon choker (Off with her head?) and the beautiful card collar and cuffs.

Oh. My. Gosh. Look at those two tone lips and that dress! Everywhere you look there is something to draw your eye. Msventress cosplays a spot on Queen of Hearts from the Disney Designer Villains doll collection. This took her about 6 months to complete and I’d say it’s worth it. Designer Dolls are becoming one of my favoritefashion cosplays!

Neferet Cosplay will give you chills! Everything she touches is gold. This is her Madness Returns Queen of Hearts, but you can see more of her on her Facebook page. This is the kind of cosplay that made me want to call my site Cos Couture. Artists like this deserve to be singled out. It’s fantastic!
