Animatsu Adds ‘Parasyte’ Live Action Movie Acquisition While Animatsu made a number of strong announcements in the anime realm during the MCM London Expo this past weekend, they added one more announcement today that’s not part of the anime side. The company has picked up the rights to the live action Parayste films. No details are available yet, but it felt like it was going to hit considering Madman Entertainment brought out the first film theatrically back in April in Australia. The films have no North American distribution yet though.

Parasyte Part 1 is based on a manga of the same name by Hitoshi Awaaki published between 1988 and 1995. The first film opened in November 2014 and is directed by Takashi Yamazaki.

Plot Concept: The film tells the story of Shinichi Izumi, an ordinary high school student who is attacked by an alien parasite – a mysterious worm-like creature which penetrates the ears or nose of an ordinary human, attaching itself to the brain and eventually taking over the entire body. Whilst Shinichi is able to fight off the parasite before it reached his brain, it remains within his right hand. Shinichi Izumi and the parasite now live as one. They both come to understand that if one dies, then so will the other. In a bid to survive, they join forces to fight against the threat of other parasites.

Comic Con is over, but we’re back with another epic announcement. We’re bringing you the live-action Parasyte movie! pic.twitter.com/uc7aePs2Pz
