With the number of big name movies in development for the 2012 summer season, it’s little surprise we’re hearing more about them now since things are firming up, filming is wrapping up on many of them and the back of the mind marketing push gets further into gear. Case in point is this bit out of Deadline where Fox execs gave a presentation for the fourth installment in the Ice Age franchise, which has now made just a hair under $2 billion for everyone theatrically, with announcements of who would be participating in it. Returning cast members:
- Ray Romano as Manny
- Queen Latifah as Ellie
- Dennis Leary as Diego
- John Leguizamo as Sid
- Seann William Scott & Josh Peck as Crash & Eddie
New to the cast:
- Jeremy Renner as Gutt
- Wanda Sykes as Granny
- Aziz Ansari as Walter
- Keke Palmer as Peaches
- Hip-hop star Drake is Ethan
- Jennifer Lopez as Shira
According to Deadline , “Romano and Latifah told the story of the new movie to the potential licensees and promotional partners and showed pencil tests and rough early animation. Morrison also talked about the franchise’s record-breaking success, what the growth of the franchise has meant for Fox, a Christmas TV special in November titled Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas on Fox broadcasting, a multiplayer game online, a mobile game, and a possible Ice Age On Ice touring show.”
