My Wife is the Student Council President Episode #07 Anime Review You really can’t choose your neighbors.

What They Say:
The story begins with Izumi Hayato running to be student body president. But when a beautiful girl swings in promising the liberalization of love while flinging condoms into the audience, he ends up losing to her and becoming the vice president. At the student council meeting, the newly-elected president invites herself over to Izumi’s house, where she promptly announces she is to become Izumi’s wife thanks to an agreement – facilitated by alcohol – made between their parents when they were only 3.

As the series hits the halfway mark I continue to find myself quite enjoying the work with what it does. The mixture of silliness and fanservice with a wacky plot that in some ways belongs on a Disney network hits a certain kind of sweet spot, especially as it clocks in at eight minutes. The complications of such situations is what works – and would be more problematic in a longer form series – where now Ui and Izumi have discovered that their next door neighbors are now Misumi and her older sister that’s in college. Suffice to say, Izumi does his best to hide this from Ui since there’s enough potential tension to be had there. Of course, that just stresses him out in trying to hide it, though the hilarity in him throwing Ui into the ceiling is perfect.

Where things get even more complicated is when Misumi ends up making her way into the apartment for some school related help and Ui begins stalk-watching her from around the corners. Of course, since they’re trying to hide that Ui is living there, there’s a lot of little things that Misumi catches onto and gets more curious about since Izumi’s lies are just so obvious. Ui doesn’t make it easy either as she wants to change the situation, though she knows doing so would complicate things immensely. It’s a silly situation that plays out very well and with some comical sexytimes towards the end because of some close quarters material that has Izumi’s natural body functions in full effect. Which, since she’s into him, has her responding in comical kind. You have to love that aspect of it because there’s a certain kind of playfulness to it that works very well.

In Summary:
This series continues to charm me with its playful aspects and the fact that it goes further than most series do, though avoiding becoming a hentai series or even soft core porn as some might call it. This episode gives us some good silliness with Misumi now being revealed as the next door neighbor and Izumi having to do his best to keep this disciplinary committee member from realizing that he’s living with Ui. The complications are handled in wonderfully comic modes and the freak out that Izumi has regularly is great, balanced by Ui’s stalker mode and Misumi’s uncertainty about everything while coming up with natural accusations of lewdness on his part. Good stuff with some great little sexy moments that a lot of teens go through to varying degrees.
