One name you don’t hear too often these days is that of Clive Barker, a man who has written some fantastic novels over the years that in many ways are only now able to start being made as films and TV shows thanks to technological advances. Barker is now getting involved with The CW to develop a drama series around Weaveworld, albeit taking the horror/fantasy work into the modern day. Barker is working as the executive producer on it with Jack Kenny and Kenny is working on the script for it. The book has been looked at for adaptation several times over the years, but it’s been something that’s been elusive because of the budget requirements. But as technology changes, and with The CW finding a good balance with shows like The Flash where it’s stepped up its special effects work, the potential is certainly there.
Plot concept: In the updated, television version of the “Weaveworld” premise, an app designer and a young pastry chef enter a mythological world through a portal in an old Savannah mansion and must join together to fight an epic battle against evil forces attempting to control the magical world.
