Danchigai Episode #02 Anime Review Be afraid when young children tell tales about your family.

What They Say:
Danchigai focuses on the life of Haruki Nakano and his four sisters, all of whom live together in the same apartment complex. The only boy of five siblings, Haruki lives with his older sister Mutsuki, difficult younger sister Yayoi, and mischievous twins Uzuki and Satsuki.

With a simple opening episode that worked to mostly introduce the cast, the second episode has its work cut out for it to engage us. That means they go for the easy approach of a bit of fanservice as Yayoi is being peeped on, though it’s actually the twins that are giving her a bit of grief. Amusingly, while talking about her bra size it turns out they’re doing that with their homework assignment where they’re supposed to talk about their family. This opens up the episode for the girls to talk about the makeup of the family and some of their traits, such as Haruki not being good at sports. Yayoi makes out good at first, but Haruki tries to sneak in that she’s pretty violent. But you know that makes its way back to him pretty quickly. Mutsuki’s a kind of perfect mix as they go on about her, so it sets the overall dynamic that we could mostly figure out from the first episode.

In Summary:
All in all, the show does a decent job of establishing the cast a bit more while having some fun with them along the way. Using the twins as the launching point to talk about their siblings works rather well since they get to make the situation more complicated but with a sense of fun about it. Granted, you could tell most of it from the first episode, but establishing the family dynamic in a more general sense is smart and it lets the humor flow freely, as it does in many families when it comes to talking about each other. The show isn’t one the smartest ones out there in general, but it plays the lightness and fanservice in a decent enough way over its short run time to make it an enjoyable enough if forgettable diversion.
