With the show having given a couple of episodes over to Aladdin and his time with the nomadic tribe, it takes a curious turn with this episode by delving into Morgiana. Her role has had some decent moments since her introduction, but she hasn’t really felt like a key character. With her off traveling with Leila and Saasa as she makes her way towards Balbadd, she’s had some decent luck and companionship, even if she took to them in an awkward way. Unfortunately, even with five episodes behind us so far, we really haven’t gotten to know Morgiana at all beyond the basic idea that she was a slave that was now freed. Her travel with the other two women definitely helps expand her a little bit though since she has other people to play off of now.

As their travel goes on, things don’t go all that well as the group ends up coming across a merchant who has been sidetracked by a group of thieves who have caused a lot of trouble along the road there. They’ve holed themselves up in quite the good hideout that’s practically a fort and enjoy the fruits of their thievery. For Morgiana, it’s just an obstacle to be dealt with though, one she just flies right into the heart of in order to talk sense into them to leave the road alone for awhile. While she was a slave before, we know she has some great moves and uses them well, though in the end it all just ends up in hardship for her. Which is what a lot of her life has been like, as we see it through some brief but key flashbacks to how she was abused when she was younger and how it’s formed her life ever since.

While the other girls do what they can to find her and help, it’s all about Morgiana as she deals with the thieves as they mess with her and try to hurt others in order to put her in her place. Morgiana’s definitely an intriguing character as her mind works some magic in order to motivate her and she definitely has a good deal of power to back up what it is she wants to do. With the kind of past that Morgiana has, it’s no surprise that she does the right thing here with those that the thieves have captured and want to sell, but it’s more about her style and personality in getting things set straight. She’s strong and confident, sometimes too confident, but there’s also a flair of luck to it as well. Especially when she mingles with the captured people a bit and discovers Aladdin in there. His reasoning for hanging out there is comical, but the balance of him and Morgiana is definitely fun to watch.

In Summary:
Giving Morgiana some time to herself to allow her to shine follows up what we had in the first five episodes where it was Aladdin and Alibaba together and then Aladdin off on his own for a bit. Bringing her back into the fold with Aladdin at the end is certainly welcome and it definitely works well to give us time with just Morgiana herself. Though she’s a simple character at this stage, and right so considering her actual history, she’s one that you can easily connect with and want to see more of because of how she handles herself. The sense of justice backed up with some physical capability, though not much in the way of planning or caution, makes her a good action component for the group when they do all come back together again for the next adventure. The series continues to delight in the visual arena, no slouch there at all, but it’ still taking some time to warm up to when it comes to the characters themselves. This one definitely helps Morgiana.
