Comical Psychosomatic Medicine Episode #17 Anime Review “School and work are breeding grounds for stress. How can we make painful things easier to deal with? Is thinking proactively about them really better than not thinking about them?!”

The Review:
Content:
Mercifully, the show seems to have moved away from the characters introducing themselves at the top of every episode. Instead, Ryou and Asuna are going to a café Himeru is working at. Once they arrive they discover it is called the Healthy Café and Himeru is wearing a pig mask again. After they take their seats in the restaurant, Ryou inquires as to why Himeru needs the job as she is already a nurse. Himeru explains that she wants to buy her family a present.

Ryou then goes on his usual tangent explaining how to deal with stress from the workplace such as coping with losing jobs, etcetera which Himeru ignores. Ryou has his order taken by her only to find that the restaurant only sells terrible food. Himeru reveals that the café is called Hell’s Restaurant. In the next frame the place has gone under and Himeru is out of a job. That’s the punchline I suppose.

In Summary:
This episode was actually decent. Sure there were a few clichés but the narrative for once did not concentrate solely on Ryou’s lectures about mental health which was a breath of fresh air for the series. The biggest flaw is that the comedy seems to be non-existent at this point. There are jokes sure, but fewer and fewer are connecting (by few I mean 1 connected the whole episode). One positive aspect was that the plot felt different from past episodes which might be standard for most shows but for an episode ion a show as repetitive as this one is a godsend. I would say check out this episode even if you are not a regular viewer of the show as it put in an honest effort for once and might be a good entering point.
